You know you’ve made it when you make the list. Whether it’s the “A” List, the Dean’s List or just the list of folks who get the best table at your favorite eating spot, you know you’re among a select few. And that’s the company that the 2010 Dodge Ram is keeping these days. On the list of the Top 10 Best-Selling Vehicles, the Dodge Ram has the qualities that make it one of the top consumer choices. Why? There are a variety of reasons, from durability and styling and safety to convenient amenities and options including a mix of V6 and V8 engines and a trio of cab configurations.
The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Regular Cab model is available in three trims – ST, SLT and Sport – with a variety of powerplants to match. The 3.7-liter V6, standard on the ST, produces 210 hp with 325 lb/ft of torque and is coupled with a four-speed automatic transmission. Available on the SLT, along with the basic 3.7-liter V6, is the 4.7-liter FlexFuel V8 with a five-speed automatic transmission. This combination produces 310 hp with 330 lb/ft of torque. A 5.7-liter HEMI V8, standard on the Sport trim and optional on ST and SLT, delivers a beefy 390 hp with 407 lb/ft of torque coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission.
The 1500 Regular Cab features a 10,450-pound towing capacity (properly equipped) and a 1,900-pound payload capability. There are two box length options; six-feet-four-inches and eight feet. There are a variety of interior features crafted with detail and quality, from the high-bolstered, broad shouldered driver’s seat to the two-tiered center console with six-ring chrome-accented instrumentation. On those cold winter days, slip into the optional heated/ventilated leather seating with available heated rear seats in Crew and Quad Cab models.
A dual glovebox, class-exclusive rear in-floor storage bins (available in Crew and Quad Cab styles), ergonomic pocket cubbies, available adjustable power pedals and express one-touch-down power windows add to the comfort and convenience. The AM/FM/CD stereo with SIRIUS Satellite Radio entertains at work or play. Remote keyless entry provides security.
The 2010 Dodge Ram didn’t make the Top 10 list on brawn and beauty alone. Safety features include four-wheel antilock disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control, front and side-curtain airbags and Hill Start Assist. Crew Cabs offer available three-point seatbelts for rear passengers. Trailer Sway Control adds to road control and stability when towing, and the available ParkView® rear backup camera makes maneuvering into tight spaces easier.
The 2500 and 3500 models add big-rig styling to the exterior with a new Crew Cab that seats six, a monster Cummins 6.7-liter turbo-diesel (standard on the 3500, optional on the 2500) and your choice of six-speed automatic or manual transmissions.
Along with the performance, styling, durability, comfort and convenience that make the Dodge Ram one of the Top 10 bestsellers, the 2010 Ram Regular Cab’s MSRP of $21,510 makes an even more convincing argument as to why this sturdy pickup is one of the American consumer’s favorites.
