Cummins Turbo Diesel: The Cleanest Meanest Engine Around

Friday, January 29th, 2010

A true workhorse with best-in-class low-end torque, the Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel comes standard on all Ram 3500s. (In fact, it’s the only truck in its class to offer a diesel engine standard.) A truly peerless power train, the Cummins was a key reason that the Ram HD was named Motor Trend’s 2010 Truck of the Year.

But did you know it’s also one of the cleanest, quietest, most eco-friendly motors available? To put it in perspective, the Cummins Turbo Diesel met 2010 emission requirements way back in 2007 — leading the way for the innovations achieved in this year’s incarnation. Cummins used a High Pressure Common Rail fuel system and cooled exhaust gas recirculation to lower emissions. And they didn’t forget noise pollution in the process: the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) dampening features in the 2010 model have led to a 50 percent quieter engine and all-around reduction in cabin noise levels. Wouldn’t you know it: The Ram Heavy Duty is the strong, silent type.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon – Four Wheeler Magazine Names Best 4×4 Of the Decade

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

The Jeep Wrangler 4X4 Rubicon won 4-Wheeler magazines’ vehicle of the decade. Jeeps have been around for 70 years, but this might be one of the best awards it’s ever received in all it’s years.

There’s several reasons why Jeep Wrangler’s hold value more than any other domestic vehicle, and being decades best would emphasize why that is the case.

Kelly blue book reveals the Jeep maintains 35.7% of its original value after 5 years, 3% above the industry average. Jeeps can go just about anywhere offroad, so this study means most likely there are a growing number of Jeeps that don’t hit the trails. The point being, Jeeps bought for offroad tend to become modified, which can lower value if not done properly.

Jeeps have been seen much more frequently as an SUV, 60% of all Wranglers sold are four doors so Jeep’s becoming a very popular family vehicle as well as being more than competent as a 4WD offroad vehicle.

Jeeps have open air options, meaning you can remove the top. Choose between a soft top and hard top (the hard top is a 3 piece top that provides more options for a complete open-air experience).

Jeeps are the ultimate open-air SUV, with room for 5 adults, drive on the street during the work week and lock the hubs for an offroad weekend excursion.

The Jeep wrangler delivers a unique blend of freedom and adventure, and owning a Wrangler certainly lends itself to venturing deeper into the outdoors and exploring trails and other areas unreachable in most vehicles.

With the recent announcement of the three new themes coming out, Jeep further exemplifies it’s purpose of being a fun thing to drive to the beach, the mountains or wherever you’d like to go.
