Dodge Caliber Uconnect – Features Explained

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Dodge constantly strives to ensure the technological features in brand models are as customer friendly and as modern as possible. Engineers work to find ways to give consumers a means to enjoy technological advances but always with the customer’s safety in mind.

Focusing on the road is paramount. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that: “Driver inattention is the leading factor in most crashes and near-crashes, according to a landmark research report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). Nearly 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near-crashes involved some form of driver inattention within three seconds before the event. Primary causes of driver inattention are distracting activities, such as cell phone use, and drowsiness.”

With this in mind, Dodge, a division of Chrysler LLC sought ways to make driving the priority yet also providing voice control options that will keep the driver’s eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. Enter Chrysler LLC Uconnect Web, a technology hub, offered in Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge models like Dodge Caliber.

The 2010 Dodge Caliber offers many features like Electronic Stability Control, a redesigned interior, sport appearance package, heated mirrors, fold flat seats, and yes Uconnect, which is the myriad of technological features incorporated in the interior cabin that allows owners to plug in and connect to their favorite multimedia gadgets. Features offered under Uconnect are: 30 gigabyte hard drive for digital music and photos, wireless Internet (wireless in-car router), navigation system that is activated by voice command, and SIRIUS satellite radio. Chrysler maintains the wireless Internet “hotspot range extends approximately 100 feet in any direction combining both WiFi and 3G cellular connectivity.”

Dodge designers and engineers understand that life can be complicated and work to offer customers the most up-to-date technology to make the drive as relaxing and safe as possible.
